This guy was resting in the shade of a land rover in the Ngorongoro Crater. There were about 14 other landrovers surrounding him and the several females and cubs that were also lounging about.

He's so cute! I love lions, I want to play with his pretty fur. ^_^ I love how you got so close and let him fill the frame, it's awesome. This one gets a favourite from me. :heart:

Yes, very content and very lazy indeed. At one point, he had to get up because the land rover whose shade he was enjoying started up to leave. So he gets up, walks over to another landrover, where a young female lion was lounging, and kicked her out of her spot! He did it without doing anything but just lying down in her spot, with her still in it. She had to get up because that's the way it works, I guess. The male lions are the boss.

That was one of the hard parts about being on safari, is you want to touch everything you see, despite whatever fear you might feel if you actually tried. So much fur to pet...

He really was only about 6 feet away when I took this. At one point, Gideon, our guide, advised me to roll up my window. "They look lazy and tired but they can change very quickly". With the land rovers, the roof of the car comes off and you can stand and look out, and that's how I took this one.
